As a multiprocessor unit, General Electric Multilin’s 760-P5-G5-D5-HI-A1-R feeder distribution management relay utilizes a MOTOROLA 68332 32-bit microprocessor and Grid Connect DSTni-LX Turbo 186 16 A bit microprocessor to control and protect a distributed system. The former microprocessor measures logic inputs and analog signals, outputs all analog signals, and manages all output relays. Meanwhile, the latter microprocessor handles liquid crystal displays, leds, and all communications. The two work together to provide comprehensive monitoring and protection of the feeder distribution system.
The relay’s automatic reclosing function sets it apart from its 750 peers. If an overcurrent occurs in a circuit or line, the reclosing device can power down and protect the threatened component. The advantage of the recloser is that it can assess whether the problem has been solved; If it is, the line or circuit can be energized again and the system can resume normal operation. The reclosing feature makes the 760-P5-G5-D5-HI-A1-R particularly suitable for overhead feeders, as these systems often require automatic reclosing.
