ABB Tensiometer Millmate Strip tension measurement system overview
The ABB Tensiometer Millmate strip tension measuring system has the characteristics of ultra-high impact and overload resistance, fatigue resistance, long-term stability, no moving parts, and insensitivity to field electrical signal interference. Reduce mill downtime caused by unpredictable failures and increase production.
The ABB Tensiometer Millmate Strip tension measuring system is used to measure strip tension to ensure that strip tension remains constant within the allowable range during acceleration and deceleration. The indenter is installed at both ends of the guide roller. A complete system includes:
Two abb force measuring heads
A control unit for powering and signal processing the indenter
The abb force measuring indenter is manufactured according to ABB’s patented magnetoelastic technology, which is the piezomagnetic principle. The control unit provides excitation power to the indenter, processes the output signal from the indenter and transmits the measured value to the external system. Communication with other systems can be analog output, high-speed fieldbus, etc. The PFEA111 / PFEA112 control unit can be set up and debugged by touch keys. These features are very easy to implement due to the friendly user interface. The measured values are displayed in the PFEA111 / PFEA112 and communicate with external displays or other peripherals via analog output. Status or alarm information is displayed on the PFEA111 / PFEA112 control unit or output via the ProfisBus DP(valid for PFEA112 only).
ABB Tensiometer Millmate Strip tension measurement – Indenter measurement principle
Piezomagnetic sensor is based on the principle that the magnetic permeability changes under the action of mechanical force. The sensor is made of a single piece of stainless steel with four holes punched in the stainless steel body. Through these four holes are wound two sets of coils, which are at an Angle to each other. When an alternating current is passed through the primary coil, a magnetic field is generated in the primary coil. Because the primary and secondary coils are at an Angle to each other, no magnetic field is generated in the secondary coil as long as there is no load on the sensor. When a mechanical force is applied to the measurement direction of the sensor, the magnetic field propagation direction in the primary coil changes, incorporating the secondary coil into the magnetic field. Because the magnetic field in the secondary coil changes, an induced potential is created in that coil. The control unit converts this induced potential into a DC voltage signal proportional to the measured force.
ABB Tensiometer Millmate Strip tension measurement – Piezomagnetic indenter features
The indenter is made of a single piece of stainless steel. It is only sensitive to the force in the measured direction. Due to the special structural design of the indenter, the force in other directions is absorbed by the indenter, thus having no effect on the force in the measured direction.
Wide measuring range: The measuring range is 40:1, the maximum is 200% of the rated range, the minimum is 5% of the rated range.
Repeatable large overload capacity: 10 times the rated range of electrical overload capacity, more than 30 times the rated range of mechanical overload capacity, no plastic deformation and fatigue phenomenon.
