The 990 vibration sensor is primarily used by original equipment manufacturers (Oems) of centrifugal air compressors or small pumps, motors or fans who prefer to provide a simple 4 to 20 mA proportional vibration signal as input to their mechanical control systems. The transmitter is a 2-wire loop powered device that accepts input from the 3300 NSV* close-in probe and its matching extension cable (available in 5 m and 7 m system length options). The transmitter adjusts the signal to the appropriate peak-to-peak amplitude engineering unit and feeds this value as an industry standard signal in a scale of 4 to 20 mA to the control system, where the mechanical protection alarm logic occurs.

The 990 transmitter has the following notable features:
Integrated preprocessor * Sensors do not require external devices
Non-isolated “prox out” and “com” terminals plus coaxial connectors provide dynamic vibration and gap voltage signal output for diagnostics 2.
Non-interactive zero and range potentiometers under the transmitter label support loop adjustment.
Using a function generator as input, test the input pins to quickly verify the loop signal output.
The power-on suppression circuit eliminates signal errors caused by line voltage transients.
The abnormal/signal failure circuit prevents high output or false alarms due to near probe failure or loose connections.
Selecting DIN rail clamps or partition mounting screws as standard options simplifies installation.
Package structure for high humidity (up to * condensation) environments.
The compatibility with the 3300 NSV close to the probe allows the sensor to be installed in a small area with a small gap, which is typical of centrifugal air compressors.
