Bently Bently Nevada 3300/20 is a dual thrust position monitoring system developed by Bently Nevada. The dual thrust position monitor detected thrust bearing failure early. It continuously measures and monitors two independent channels for the axial position of the shaft related to the axial clearance of the machine.

Ideally, an axial probe is installed to directly monitor the thrust ring, so the measurement results show the position of the thrust bearing in relation to the thrust bearing clearance. Note Because thrust measurements are made by measuring the gap voltage close to the probe that is used as an input, sensor failures (gaps out of range) can be misinterpreted by the monitor as a shift in thrust position, resulting in false thrust alerts.

As a result, Bentley Nevada LLC. It is not recommended to use a single probe in thrust position applications. Instead, these applications should use two proximity probes to monitor the same ring or shaft, AND the monitor should be configured to AND vote, meaning that both sensors must simultaneously reach or exceed their alarm set points to activate the monitor’s alarm relay. Careful probe range and adjustment is essential for mechanical protection in this monitor. Improperly adjusted sensors may prevent the display from sounding an alarm (without mechanical protection).
